President's Speech

Hi Friends of Gujarati Samaj Penang,

A very warm and heartiest welcome to all.

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank you very much” to our members for giving me an opportunity to serve as a leader of our esteemed Gujarati Samaj once again after a period of fourteen years.  I am truly humbled by this kind gesture. I would also like to welcome and sincerely thank our Management Committee 2018/2019 who have graciously accepted to work towards the betterment of the Gujarati Community as a whole in Penang and Malaysia.

At this juncture, it is my pious duty to remember all the stalwarts of yester years, who at that point of time had worked tirelessly towards establishing a building in the vicinity of Georgetown in the
year 1952 with a vision to create a future for generations to come. Today, we all can stand tall together with other organizations and be proud of our Samaj building at 41, Green Hall, 10200 Penang.  We remember and appreciate them will all our hearts.

One of their collective aims and objectives for our Samaj was as follows;

To safeguard and promote social, cultural, religious, educational and general welfare of Gujarati and Marwadi Hindu Communities of Penang in particular an Malaysia in general and to strengthen unity among its members and many more.

We will together fulfill and revitalize their vision as humbly and efficiently possible. This year our Management Team’s main focus will be to look into increasing our Samaj’s coffer by trying to have a major fund raising project.  At the same time will be organizing many other entertaining and lively events for our beloved members.

With this, friends of Gujarati Samaj Penang, as we are a Non-Governmental Organization we do welcome your support in cash or kind so that we can carry out meaningful  projects in the present and the future years.

Thank you.

Mr. Shashikant Gathani
GSP President
